Who we are
Heart of Gold is a brand of Heart of Diamond Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 10371848. The registered office is 23 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8BQ.
Heart of Diamond Ltd is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and at the Hatton Garden counter. Contact us at sales@heartofdiamond.co.uk or 020 3302 1101.
We have not published a VAT number or an ICO registration number on this site because those numbers have not been supplied for publication. Ask us if you need them for a formal request.
What we collect
When you use the gold calculator we store the estimate you asked for: category, stated purity, weight in grams, the buy rate used, and a public reference. That estimate is not a contract and is not a sale.
When you send an enquiry we collect your name, email address, optional telephone number, preferred contact method, a description of the items, optional photographs, and any estimate reference you attach. We also store a hashed technical fingerprint so we can limit repeat automated submissions.
When you book, change or cancel a valuation we collect your name, email, optional telephone number, the appointment time, and a signed manage link so only you can change that booking.
Photographs stay on a private disk. They are not published on the website and are shown only to staff arranging your valuation.
Why we use it
We use this information to reply to you, arrange a visit at 23 Hatton Garden, prepare a valuation, keep the diary accurate, and protect the service from abuse. The legal bases are our legitimate interests in running a gold-buying desk, and your request to take steps before a possible contract.
We do not use your enquiry or photographs for marketing unless you have asked us to. We do not sell your personal information.
A sale, if you accept an offer, takes place in person. We may then need proof of identity and proof that you can sell the items. That is a legal obligation for a precious-metal purchase, not a website form.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records and photographs are kept for 730 days from the date we receive them, unless a longer period is required for a sale, a dispute or the law. After that they are deleted from the working system.
Appointment records are kept for as long as needed to run the diary and to show you later what was booked. Cancelled appointments remain visible on your manage link so the cancellation is clear.
Gold estimates are kept so you and the desk can refer to the same figure. They expire for pricing purposes after the published window, usually 24 hours.
Who can see it
Staff at Heart of Gold / Heart of Diamond Ltd who handle valuations, enquiries and appointments can see the details you send.
Our website and email providers process the data only to deliver this service. Live gold rates are fetched from MetalpriceAPI on our server. That request does not include your name, photographs or enquiry.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, or if we must check that items are not stolen before a purchase.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, or object to our use of it. Write to sales@heartofdiamond.co.uk or visit 23 Hatton Garden.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how we have used your information. The ICO is the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
The calculator does not make an automated decision that produces a legal effect. It shows an estimated gold-content figure. The final offer is made by a person after inspection.
